So these pictures help me a lot, I can check some parts of the character when I need to know what it looks like. But, sometimes, it is still not enough for me. some area still need to observed in 360 view. I need entitative models.
It is a good way to sculpt some models by plasticine. However, it is kind of too hard to sculpt something at the beginning, I still need to be trained on sculpting. Then, I got some helps from a professional teacher, fortunately, I am not studying on toy design. Otherwise, I should to sculpt a complicated model which could be a real toy in the final.
These are very helpful for my 3D characters in Maya. Then, I can start modeling in Maya. All characters could start as a basic model, like a cube or a sphere. I have 5 characters to do. PO and WILD are protagonists, A LITTLE GIRL, AN OLD MAN and A BUTTERFLY are supporting players.
I start model WILD because it is most complicated of them. I built a cylinder first, then selected some of top faces, squeezed them up as a head of dragon, use the same way for arms, legs, tail and wings.
Keep modeling, and I can have a basic model in dragon. After that, I need to fix it and do more details. There is another important way to help modeling which is using enantiomorphous copy so that I just need to model one side, then I can copy that to another side, and they will change if you change the pervious side.
It still need more details on it. The next character is PO. She is a female dragon. I used a long cylinder first, used a same way with WILD. Squeezing faces to shape it to a eastern dragon. The differences between these two characters are the body and hair. PO's hair is elegant, but at the beginning, it should be some fixed parts which like polyhedron as well.
PO's horns are special, not even a little same with WILD. But it is could be changed from a long tube. Eastern dragon's head is from horse and normally, horns from deer. However, they can be changed a little for fashion.
Same step with WILD, just finish hands and some easy parts of body. Then I need to model supporting players, an old man just appear twice in my film, and he will not move too much, so his body will be very basic and simple. A little girl is important in my film, because she gives WILD a chance to change his mind, and that is the reason they save human finally.
I finished the body of the LITTLE GIRL, and the hair should in a same way with PO. There is a good example in Clash Of Clans(COC). The character will model as Valkyrie in COC.
When I finish all of these, all characters need coloring and link the bone. Then, I need to create props as well, but that will easier than characters. Drawing scenes will be the last step in Practise 2. I decided to draw 2D scenes for my film, because 3D scenes are so complicate for me. I already find many pictures which are the real photographies as my references. So I will finish them as soon as possible.
